Michael was born on 2 wheels with a spanner in his hand. Starting in the BMX racing scene in 1983, where he learnt all the basics of grazed knees and missing teeth.

Michael then vacillated between off-road bikes and BMX till 1993 where he found his love for mountain bikes at school. Winning the SA Championships (1997 – XCO Expert Men) and African continental championships (2016 – XCO sub vet) are the highlights of his cycling career.

Throughout his cycling career Michael has always worked on his own equipment, giving him valuable skills and knowledge of working with tool and machinery

Today he uses this lifelong bank of knowledge as a qualified engineer to build, service and repair bicycles, combining his passion for working with his hands and the love of the bicycle.
